Apatite is a calcium phosphate with a hardness of 5. It is mainly found in Brazil, Myanmar, Madagascar, Sri Lanka, India, Mexico, Greenland, Canada, and the United States. Its name comes from the Greek word for 'to deceive', because the stone occurs in so many colors and formations that it is easily mistaken for another mineral.
