Phantom Quartz looks like a photograph of what the crystal looked like at an earlier stage. It offers a glimpse into the crystal's past.
A phantom forms when the crystal once stopped growing and acquired a layer, for example of chlorite. Afterwards, the crystal continued to grow. This layer allows you to see the earlier shape of the crystal: the phantom, or the ghost from the crystal's past.
The effect of phantom quartz mirrors this process. During meditation, the crystal can give you insight into your own past. Sometimes crystals even contain multiple phantoms, where you see different layers on top of each other. Phantom quartz is a special and highly sought-after crystal.
