Each singing bowl is carefully hammered into the correct shape, going through various stages to achieve the right form and a pure tone.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eIn this process, the different metals (copper, tin, iron, lead, gold, and silver) are first melted in an oven, depending on what the final product requires (copper and tin = bronze) forming the main components for the bronze bowls, with very small percentages of the other metals for the seven-metal bowls. The molten metal is then removed from the oven and poured into a mold, after which discs of various diameters and thicknesses are cut from it, which can then be further processed. After that, the discs are hand-hammered into the desired shape and size, after precise measurement and classification by weight. About five discs are first stacked on top of each other and heated in the oven until red-hot, after which they are individually hammered into a bowl shape using a mold. The skilled craftsmen can only do this when the metal is red-hot, because if it cools too much, it becomes brittle and cracks can form, making the bowl unusable.\u003cbr\u003eAfter the bowls have their rough shape, the delicate process of finishing begins. At this stage, each bowl gets its own shape and size, and again a lot of fine hammering is involved, so the bowl must be heated red-hot again to get the exact right shape and sound.
